Thanks for using our plugin!
There is no push into being a ‘Trustpilot’. It is actually the opposite. We offer a complete flexibility in collection and display of reviews. You can choose between:
- Collecting reviews locally without 3rd party verification (review invitations will be sent by the default mailer from your website, aggregated review forms will be hosted locally on your server).
- Collecting reviews via CusRev to enable 3rd party verification. There are two more options here (added in the last update): you can collect review via CusRev in either Private or Live modes. Reviews received in the Private mode will not be published on CusRev. It is great for setting up and testing integration of the plugin with CusRev. If you enable the Live mode, the plugin will start publishing verified copies of reviews to CusRev.
The reason why you started seeing the verified reviews badge on your old reviews after the last update is that:
- They were collected via CusRev. If you chose collect them locally (see the point 1 above), there would be no verified badges.
- Since there was no setting for Private / Live modes before the last update, the plugin did not retrospectively update old reviews as private. We cannot know which stores would like to keep verified badges and which would like to remove them. Therefore, we didn’t implement any updates of the old reviews.
However, we see that you need a way to remove verification meta data from the old reviews. Therefore, we will add a possibility to do that. Please wait for the next update of the plugin – it will include a button to manually remove the verified badges from old reviews.
