Verified Buyers Leave 1 Review

You can leave the ‘Reviews can only be left by “verified owners”‘ setting unchecked in your WooCommerce options. Only the “Verified Buyers” setting in our plugin (in the “WooCommerce” area of the “Options” tab) needs to be set to “Yes”.

Then you also need to make sure you have waited at the least the number of days that you specified in the “WooCommerce Minimum Days Since Purchase” option (or you can set this option to “0” if you want people to be able to leave a review right away after purchasing) and that it hasn’t been more than the number of days you specified in the “WooCommerce Maximum Days Since Purchase” option.

Sometimes, depending on the theme, if your buyers are redirected back to the product page after their purchase is complete, the review form won’t display then (because certain themes don’t actually refresh the page when they do this). As soon as you navigate back to that product page, though, the review form will show.

I set the settings up as you described but now anyone can leave a review. The verified buyer requirement does not seem to be working.

We tested it before writing you back, so we know that, at least, this functionality in the plugin is definitely working. It’s probably still an incorrect setting somewhere. If you could provide us with a link to your site, perhaps we might be able to deduce what setting that is by having a look at the product page.

We absolutely cannot recreate the issue in which, when the “Verified Buyers” option in our plugin is enabled, the review form shows to non-purchasers, like is happening on your site. Do you have any other WooCommerce extensions, or other reviews plugins, or, especially another WooCommerce reviews extension? What happens if you try deactivating all other plugins, does it make a difference?

Also, do you use some kind of caching plugin. It could be that the changes you’re making to the settings in our plugin are not showing on the front end because you’re seeing a cached output. Try temporarily disabling any caching plugins to see if it makes a difference.

In your testing and troubleshooting, have you ever had it where, instead of the review form, it just displayed a text link?

I have the same request as the original member when it comes to limiting the amount of reviews to 1 per person per product.

I’m already only displaying and submitting reviews pertaining to one single product on the product page, is there a way from your side where I can block a user from submitting a review with the same product ID or do I have to do this myself?

I don’t see anything that would conflict. The other option is to remove the review submission form from the ratings tab on each product and just show the actual reviews. Then, have a separate process involving an email link to send users to a ratings page to actually enter their review. Is that possible, to hide the form?

What happens if you deactivate all other plugins except WooCommerce and our plugin? Does it do the same thing? What happens if you try a default WordPress theme?

In your testing and troubleshooting, have you ever had it where, instead of the review form, it just displayed a text link?

If you wanted, you could set up a review reminder email, but it would still need to link back to a review page. But you could make this a separate page with a submit-review shortcode on it, instead of the WooCommerce product page.

If deactivating all other plugins does nothing, and you’ve never had the text link instead of the review form, and/or the email option isn’t what you meant, then can you please email us at [email protected]? We’re going to need more info, screenshots, send files, etc.

@quackounousa You can enable the verified buyers option to make it so that a person can only leave a review for something they bought. There is currently no option to limit them to one review, however.

I deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce and your plugin and it still does the same thing. I opened up an incognito window as a guest and it allows me to enter a review.

And yes, in my testing I have had it where it just displayed a text link.
