Hi, I’ve the “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” plugin installed for the validation of VAT numbers and the application of a possible VAT exemption. I’ve been running into some problems recently, If I try to place an order when I’m logged in, I enter a valid VAT number (message “valid VAT number”) the total is not updated. I already contacted the support team of the “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” plugin, they made some tests and told me that the validation done through their plugin works correctly, that probably there is something else blocking the application of the exemption. I’ve tried another plugin similar to “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” but doesn’t work. The problem appeared right after the woocommerce update, maybe there is a bug in updating the cart totals in the latest woocommerce version? Can you check please?

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are using the third-party plugin WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant here and you are experiencing some issues with the order total not being updated.

Checking the plugin’s repository, it is mentioned there that the plugin reached its end of life on the 30th of June 2022 (see the announcement from January 2022). Though it is still functional and can be used, there is a big chance it is outdated. As you mentioned, the issue you’re experiencing happened after the latest WooCommerce update, right?

Since this is a third-party plugin that we don’t provide support for based on our Support Policy, I recommend that you reach out to the developers of the plugin for further assistance. They will be better equipped to help you resolve any issues you’re experiencing with the plugin.

Thank you for your answer, as I wrote before, I have already contacted the support of the plugin that has already done the tests, I also tried another plugin (EU/UK VAT Manager for WooCommerce, recently updated and maintained) that has the exact same problem so I don’t think it is the two tested plugins, that would be a strange coincidence, since I recently updated woocommerce I thought it was a woocommerce bug and that’s why I wrote to you. Can you please check if there is any error or block set by woocommerce during the checkout update?

Hi,

While I understand your request, please note, there are many plugins on the web developed by third party entities, not supported by us.

Can you please try to reproduce the issue again (with your previous or recent plugin) on your end, then navigate to the error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if any error is visible)? That will help to provide more information about the issue.

Let us know what you find.

I tried with both plugins. With “WooCommerce EU VAT Assistant” I see this log.

2023-04-18T08:42:03+00:00 ERROR FeaturesUtil::declare_compatibility: /home/supermagin/www/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce-eu-vat-assistant/src/embedded-framework/wc-aelia-foundation-classes-embedded/wc-aelia-foundation-classes.php is not a known WordPress plugin.

With “EU/UK VAT Manager for WooCommerce” I don’t see any logs.

Thanks for sharing the error. It seems like plugins are not compatible with the latest version of WordPress and WooCommerce.

I would suggest you to try different plugin like EU VAT Number and see if it fulfills your requirements.

I can imagine your frustration at this point. So, even with even with the EU VAT Number extension, the VAT is still not removed, correct?

I suggest you start by updating WooCommerce and the database as the current version you’re using is outdated.

If that doesn’t help, then please try disabling all plugins except WooCommerce/EU VAT Number while activating the default Storefront theme. If the problem is not present after doing so, then you know there was a plugin conflict. You can enable plugins one by one again to find the culprit.

If after all of the above, you’re still experiencing the same behaviour then please open a ticket about this from WooCommerce.com > MY profile > Support so we can investigate further.

Make sure to include a link to this thread so we know what has been done already.
