    Hello,

Hope its not a problem if i write in English.

Im making an online store for German client. He wants to have VAT ID check and option to hide VAT tax costs if VAT ID provided by customer is valid.

I’ve set up the Germanized plugin correctly I guess.

When I write some random VAT number then I have message that VAT is incorrect.

But when the VAT is correct then nothing happens, VAT tax is still displayed.

How I can disable VAT tax for verified VAT ID users?

    Best,
    Jakub

    Hi Jakub,

are you using Germanized Pro to add the VAT ID field? Did you check your WooCommerce tax settings? Taxes need to be calculated based on the customers shipping address (not your shop’s address).

VAT will of course only be removed in case the customer chooses a country from the EU which differs from your base country. Please check back with your tax consultant in case any questions regarding the reverse charge procedure occur.

    Cheers

    Thank you for your response.

Yes, Im using Pro version. Yesterday client send to me some data of his business clients from outside of Germany. It works, shop doesn’t show VAT tax if customer is not from Germany. Apparently that’s what he wanted I guess. Only for clients from Germany it doesn’t change. I thought that for all business customers VAT has to be hidden.

“Did you check your WooCommerce tax settings? Taxes need to be calculated based on the customers shipping address (not your shop’s address).” – actually that’s not quiet true. It does calculate VAT even when its set to calculate based on shop address. When i switch to any other option then VAT is hidden as long as potential customer will not give his address during checkout. My client doesn’t want that, he wants to show brutto prices all the time, except for business customers.

Does “Calculating VAT based on the customers shipping address” is really necessary? Does it change anything else? Im asking because we don’t want any accounting problems later on, and also client is very stubborn and he wants those brutto prices.

    Thank you,
    Jakub

    Hi Jakub,

you might need to check your geolocating settings under WooCommerce > Settings > general too – make sure to use your base shop address as default customer address. And in case you do understand german you should check our blog article on how to setup taxes in Woo: https://vendidero.de/mehrwertsteuer-in-woocommerce-alles-was-du-wissen-musst
