    Hi,

We have products that come in lots and lots of different sizes. Industry professionals usually know what metric size they want. Home users often have no idea.

Our industry professional customers log in to the professional portal (if relevant) and should be able to see and choose from full range based on metric size.

For everyone else, I would just like to list the most common sizes and label them small, medium… So basically two things – exclude some of the variations, and change the attribute name displayed depending on whether logged in.

I can’t list the product twice as it would mean two product codes. Orders are pushed through a couple of other software packages and this would cause chaos.

Is what I am after possible? Thank you!!!

    Hi @cuwie1,

As I understand you currently have it set up as for the industry professional customers, so with a whole array of options, correct? And you’d wish to limit those for not logged in users as to simplify things.

Or, to be precise, not only displaying fewer options but also renaming the remaining ones for basic terms (small, medium, etc). This is something that’s not possible out of the box with WooCommerce, so it’s out of our support scope.

However, I’ve done some research for you and found some promising results on Google that may point you in the right direction. Please know that we have not tested or supported the third-party code, so proceed with caution.

This is a fairly complex development topic. I’m going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

I can also recommend the Woo Developer Resources Portal for resources on developing for Woo.

You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the Woo Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for Woo, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

    Cheers!

Thank you so much! Our web developers said it wasn’t possible at all, but I was pretty sure it should be – just not out of the box. Yes, you have understood right – those logged in will be industry professionals and have a much wider scope of product requirements (which is bewildering for non-professionals). So I’d like to hugely simplify what they see!

    Hi @cuwie1,

Yes, this is definitely possible with the right combination of plugins and settings.

You can use the Hide Variations by User Roles to hide individual product variations by user roles.

You can also use the WooCommerce Role-Based Pricing plugin to set different prices and display different product variations based on the user’s role.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how it goes or if you need further assistance.

    Hi there ?? ,

We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved. Feel free to start a new thread if you have any more questions.

    All the best,
    Omar
