varnish

  • I have installed varnish and proxy purge plugin but for some reason now in pagespeed I am getting notice that images need to be in next-gen format. Before when I was using just wp-optimize cache plugin it did not report this.

    Hi @exactprecisions,

    If it works with Varnish off, but not with Varnish on, the likely issue would be that Varnish is not respecting the Vary header. The default Varnish configuration should do this, however.

    You should first check whether the relevant images are served in a different format when you have Varnish disabled. Eg, they are normally served as WebP, but when Varnish is turned on you get JPEG.

    I’m afraid that unless you uncover a specific issue in PhastPress it is likely the problem is with your Varnish config, and I’m not able to assist.
