would appreciate help on a problem with page 1 of the attached link.
The product has 44 colors, comes in 8 sizes, and 3 price ranges.
Generally this would mean 44 x 8 x 3 or 1056 entries in the variations
    listing (with 3 attributes).

Is there an easier way to set up the ecommerce cart.

The good thing is that all 44 colors are the same price.

    Thankful for any ideas.

    Frank.

  • Hi @frankchamby,

That’s a great question. It somewhat depends on your needs in keeping track of inventory. If you need to track each variation’s stock separately, then the only way to do that is to create a unique variation for each one.

If you don’t what you could do is set up variations based on each price range. Then instead of “fixing” a specific attribute for the other attributes, you can let the customer decide.

Take a shirt that comes in different colors and sizes. I could set the color (if that’s what determines the cost) and then let the customer select the size. That way I don’t make a separate variation for each size.

    variation

However, if I do that, I can’t control the inventory for the sizes. A good rule of thumb is if you need to control inventory then you do need a specific variation for it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hello Three Sons,

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful reply.

Fortunately I do not have any inventory concerns so it would appear that it is
    doable.

I am still trying to wrap my head around this one.

I basically have 3 factors for choice – color, size, and quantity.
All 44 colors are the same price so the only variance is in size (8 widths-the wider
the material the more expensive) and:
3 different lengths of rolls (the longer the more expensive)

I would usually list all 44 colors in attributes and this would come up
on the product page and would allow the customer to make the choice of color.

I would make second attribute of 8 different widths of material, and this would also show up on the product page allowing a choice of width of material.

I would make a third attribute of the 3 different length rolls allowing a choice of length of material roll e.g. 1 yd roll, or 10 yd. roll, or 50 yd. roll.

At this stage when I go into Variations it calls for prices on 1056 items.

Obviously I am doing something wrong here.
Do I have too many attributes?
Should I be listing the 44 colors on the attributes (this is how I get them listed
    so the customer can choose)

You suggested listing both the prices for the 8 different widths of rolls and 3 different lengths of rolls on the variations part.
If I only had to do once of these (eg. prices for 8 different withs) it would
    work out.
But I run into trouble when I try to also introduce prices for the 8 widths
    in 3 different lengths.

I must be missing something here.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Frank.

    Hello @frankchamby ,

44 as the number of values can be a big number sometimes. It’s good that there is no price difference for all these colors.

As previously suggested by @3sonsdevelopment if you do not need to control the inventory or price of each attribute then you can let the customer choose it and not create variations for each of the values.

But you will have to create variations for each price change. So, for 8 different widths and 3 different lengths, you will have to create all of these variations. You can keep the colors to be common in all of these variations because there is no price difference with color choices.

As you are dealing with sizes in this product, you can take a look at this extension – Measurement Price Calculator. This will allow you to automatically adjust the price of the product depending on the size selected by the customer.

    Thank you ??

Thank you Rashed for your reply which is greatly appreciated.

If I could get clarification on a part of this it would be most helpful.
When the price is the same on all color choices, the key as mentioned by yourself
and 3 SONS earlier, is to let the customer choose the color.
I have been doing this by entering all of the colors in attributes.
Should I be doing it this way, or is there another way that they could choose
    the color?.
As I stated previously, I had been entering 3 different attributes- COLOR – WIDTH –
and LENGTH in Attributes, and with 44 colors this of course generated the huge amount of variations.

So at this time I am just not sure as to what items I enter in Attributes.

Again, I would be most beholden for any help on this subject.

    Thanks again,
    Frank

    Hello @frankchamby ,

I believe you are already doing it right. Let’s see an example to clarify the setup –

    1. Here, you will see I have three attributes with multiple values in them – https://prnt.sc/yr0bys

    2. I do not have any price difference for colors but price changes for different lengths and sizes. So I have created all these variations – https://prnt.sc/yr0fnx

I think this is the best we can do with too many variations in a single product.

Let me know if there are any more confusions.

    Thank you ??

Thank you very much Rashed for taking the time and kindly illustrating and
explaining the procedure and pointing out where I was at.

The simple thing that eluded me was, after listing all the colors in the first
of the 3 attributes (color – size – and length), was that I proceeded to to show each
color rather then leaving the attribute as “any color”.

Again I appreciate your patience and perhaps I will be able to help someone
else in future forums on other matters.

    Regards,
    FRANK

    Hi there,
