I have setup variations for color/Size. The default product is black. if you select red and medium size then add to basket it works but the picture of the product in the basket is black (Default) can this be fixed?

  • @ianmuir37 Have you tried to add an image to the variation? The docs can be seen here – https://woocommerce.com/document/variable-product/#add-an-image-to-the-variation

Yes I have an image for each size.

Having those images set usually allows the main image to change based on the variation. Is the image not switching when the appropriate variation is being selected?

the item changes to the correct colour and size when you select it.
when you add it to basket, it adds the correct colour and size but not the correct picture of the item. The picture is the default picture of the item.

What theme are you using? I have tested this on the Storefront theme and the variation image is showing correctly in the cart based on the colour and size.

    Hi @ianmuir37

    Thanks for reaching out!

The default product is black. if you select red and medium size then add to basket it works but the picture of the product in the basket is black (Default) can this be fixed?

Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled and see if this works?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please share your System Status Report, that will help us further troubleshoot.

You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Let us know how it goes!
