Using WC 2.4.8 and fairly certain with this update is why I cannot change SKU and save them, tho not sure as I’ve been too busy to add new prints. Or perhaps is was updating to WP 3.4.1

I normally find a print that closely matches the new print I’m adding to products and click on Duplicate. On the “copy” I change everything that is necessary. Variations is usually a matter of changing 1 or 2 numbers in the SKU and save. I don’t carry stock and all have different prices.

    Example: 7001UF3624 to 7030UF3624

Now when I save the first page of SKU # changes, it tells me they need to be unique and often revert back to the copy SKU. Once it let me save the changes, but when I saved the second page, same error came up and it reverted all changes back to the copy SKU. I even tried leaving the General SKU blank; i.e. not put in 7030 and no joy.

With variations not allowing me to make and save changes, I’m at a loss on what to do. ?? Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Forgot to mention I did add the 20+ variations code to my child theme functions and that too did not help

Futhermore, I added everything to my php.ini per doc on large amount of data not saving by WC and updated to WC 2.4.10; still no joy ??

While I appreciate the devs for their hard work and long hours, I shouldn’t have to spend countless hours trying to troubleshoot why WC isn’t working with an update to WC or WP.

Though I’m comfortable enough messing around with code, most aren’t and after 5-6 hrs. I still cannot add a new print to my Galleries…

Deactivated all plugins, tried Twenty Fourteen theme one more time and still get the error: variation sku must be unique. It happens when trying to change the Duplicate product sku’s and on adding a new product.

I’m at a loss on what to try next. I’d really appreciate any help given!

Do you get the unique message regardless of your SKU? It sounds like meta for that SKU may already exist in your database, especially if its a copied product.

    Hi Mike,

Yes. I’ve checked and have no product with that sku and tried a different one altogether. I cleared out all SKU data from one print and tried entering a few and it would not save. Still receiving error. ??

With this latest version does WC recommend not using Duplicate? I mean that makes for adding products faster.

    Thanks!

EDIT: I checked my error logs on server and there’s none

I did a hard shut down and it seems to be working now. Guess something cached and wouldn’t allow the changes. Sorry for the bother, thanks for your time Mike!
