Variation selection not acknowledged in Smart Bundles

When using smart bundles with variable products, variation selection not acknowledged and I get the error message ‘Please select a purchasable variation for ‘………..’ before adding this bundle to the cart.
It works fine if I specify a specific variation, a simple product or if I use the basic bundle and not a smart one
