Variation image not working when selecting the first dropdown variaiton

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status.

Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Is there a direct URL you can provide us with to see this behaviour when only WooCommerce core and the default Storefront theme are active?

Thank you for providing the System Status report and the link to view the product.

I see in your status report that there are a number of plugins still active, and two seem to provide a similar function:

WooCommerce Variation Swatches: by Emran Ahmed – 1.0.57
WooCommerce Variation Swatches and Photos: by Lucas Stark – 3.0.12

I suspect that there could be a conflict happening with the way the images for the variations are displaying. Are those plugins active on the site that you provided access to?

Can you please provide a screenshot of the settings for this product’s variation images.

Can you confirm the other active plugins. I double check the status report provided above and I only see woocommerce as active plugins?
I also double check on dashboard to check for active plugins and there are no other plugins active except woocommerce. see screenshot below.

Hi @darrenc4,

I deeply apologize for the wait on this. We have since updated to WooCommerce ver. 3.7. Ver. 3.6 changed a *lot* on how products are seen and displayed, and might be able to resolve your item.

If you have not, please update to ver. 3.7. After doing this, go to WooCommerce > Status > Tools an run the tool for Product lookup tables. This will take a while, but it regenerates all of the product lookup tables, which includes re-setting Variations.

Do this and if it still does not work please come back and let me know!

Were you able to regenerate product tables? When I go to the product in question, I am able to see the variation images. The first variation image does appear to be the gentleman with the correct color shirt, as seen in this GIF:

Is that the correct variation image? If it is, then it does appear to work. If it is not, is that image the Featured Image set for the product as well as the variation image? If it is the Featured Image, it will show as the first image. Please let me know ??

The size dropdown should be set to “Choose an option” or set to default when you test.
Like when the page loads, both dropdown should be set to default option, then try to select the color dropdown first.
On the gif you sent, the size was pre-selected, then you just select different colours.
Our issue is that when you select only the colour dropdown or the colour dropdown first without selecting size yet, the image should change.

This is not how WooCommerce works, unless there has been modification or a plugin added to change behavior. If there are 2 selectable attributes (2 drop downs), both need to be selected in order to have the variable image show. If only one is selected then there is no match for the selection, and the image would not change.
