• Resolved shizlist

    (@dnacannon)

Trying to create a variable product. I can add and save normal attributes just fine. But if when trying to add an attribute I check the “used for variations” box, the attribute disappears as soon as I either click either “Save Attributes” or “Publish” in the sidebar. The other attributes remain.

    Running the Botigo theme.

  • Hi @dnacannon!

From the issue’s description, it seems that a conflict between WooCommerce and your theme, or another plugin you have installed on your site, might be occurring.

To be sure of this, please perform a conflict test by temporarily switching your theme back to Storefront, disabling all plugins except WooCommerce and repeating the action that is causing the problem. If that solves it, then re-enable all plugins one-by-one, until you find the one creating the conflict.

If you cannot perform a conflict test on your live site, we recommend creating a staging site using the WP Staging plugin.

You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

Let us know how that goes for you!

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

I thought I’d chime in since I solved my issue of not being able to save attributes/attributes disappearing.

I was trying to add attributes to a new product. I did all troubleshooting, disabling all other plugins and switching to twenty twentytwo. I also tried using the update product button instead of the save attributes button. No joy.

I finally figured out that woo didn’t like that I was copying and pasting attribute values from another website. It’s been a long time since I added a new product, it used to be that you could just type in a new value…now you have to click Add new to add a new value.

I hope that this post might save someone else the couple of hours it took me to figure it out.

    Hi @scopieg

It is great that you were able to find a way forward.

Thank you for sharing the solution here.

Text copied from the internet often have underlying code that can cause issues when pasted elsewhere. It is always a good idea to strip any linked code by first pasting the text on a simple text editor such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac).

Since the issue is resolved, I’m closing this thread.
Please feel free to create a new one if you have any other questions.
