    Hi Joost,

Will products import successfully if they have separate SKUs but the same barcode?

We’ve got products which share barcode 0001 but come in multiple colours. If I add products to Zettle directly I can assign the same barcode to all of them and when the product is scanned the software asks which version you want to add to basket.

I’m trying to format 10,000 products to prepare for the initial sync and I just want to confirm products of this nature will import successfully and work as intended with identical barcode fields, as long as they all of unique SKU’s.

Also they way they’re currently set up the variable product has the original SKU (i.e 0001) and each variation is appended (0001BLK, 0001BLU, 0001GRY). I’m presuming the SKU on the variable parent will essentially be ignored? Would it be better to remove the parent SKU if this isnt the case?

    Thank you again

    Matt

    Hello @mattyblob

short answer: it should not affect the synchronization.

Longer answer: there is only 1 main value that links the products between Zettle and WooCommerce. This is the UUID that is generated for every single product (and variation) when you initially onboard your Zettle account and sync the products.
So after this, if you select the correct product in your Zettle POS and on that side it deducts the correct product (variation), there can not really be a failure because of the same barcode, since you select the correct one in the Zettle system. The stock sync that follows should never be affected by the barcode.

I do not have an option to test this statement (no POS equipment to test with), so I would still advise testing this if you have the possibility. However, I am confident this setup does not affect the sync.

Let me know if this answers your question or if you have any follow up questions.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
