• Hi there,

Thanks for making this plugin. Randomly generated SKU code – just what I was looking for.

I have a query – I am using ‘max min’ to generate number SKU’s. Is it possible, for a bit more organisation, for Variable products the last digit of the SKU to increment by 1 digit?

    E.g.

Blue Blanket – Main Product (SKU: 005)
Red Blanket – Variable (SKU: 006)
Green Blanket – Variable (SKU: 007)

    Something like this possible?

    Many Thanks,
    Jawad

    Hello Jawad,
Thank you for using the plugin.
Actually, it is a good idea, but I would go on another rout.
I would think that the use should be:
Blue Blanket – Main Product (SKU: 005-1)
Red Blanket – Variable (SKU: 005-2)
Green Blanket – Variable (SKU: 005-3)
That way you keep the main product sku and still have the notation of the v. product.
I’ll think how to implement this and will post it here.

    Thank you,
    Yehuda

    Jawad,
I am sorry but I am tied up to something else.
    I’ll deal with that soon.

Hello YehudaT, great and smart plugin. The best I saw for this function.
How can I insert a prefix + min/max? For instance: dcs-4534524, where (dcs-) is the prefix for all products and the numbers are min/max? Is also possbile to set a start number in a ascendent order? Like dcs-0001, dcs-0001, dcs-0002, dcs-0003, etc…?

Why this uncommon request? Because I have a multishop installation and avery shop will have a different prefix, this way all the products from all the shops will be broadcasted to the main shop inventory and can be searched by SKU prefix.

Perhaps a little hock in the theme of each shop?

    Thanks,
    Paulo

    Hello acdigital,
Thank you for your kind words.
Actually, your idea looks right and I’ll try to implement it.
I’ll let you know here when done.
    Thanks,
    Yehuda

YehudaT, thanks for your speed answer, just unbelievable. ??
See, I am looking for a paid support to resolve this matter.
The good thing is that these options will be part of new upgrades and of course you can make my custom suggestion as part of the open source.

I analyzed the code yesterday and seems easy to enter a prefix in the Id=”_sku” placeholder=”_prefix” or in the value=”_prefix + _sku”.

Please let me know if this is possible, how long and how much will it takes.

    Have a nice Sunday.
    Paulo

Did I understand it right? A new SKU will be generated when a new product is published or upgraded? This means when I edit a product the SKU will change? Or this will only Insert SKU if the SKU field is empty?

sorry if this is a stupid question :-))))

    Thanks,
    Paulo

Paulo, you got it right from the code and that is what I am implementing right now.
As for the your other questions, I think paid job is not allowed per the forum policy. In any case, I am going to implement your request very soon so you can get it here.

Please note that the plugin does not change any SKU without admin action per product. That is how it is built and intended for.
If you want for existing products to change the SKU in bulk, you’ll have to use other methods.

Please look at the plugin again for other details you may need.

    Thanks,
    Yehuda
