Variable product schema price not updating

Google’s structured data tool will indeed show the GBP 13.50 which is the cheapest variant available. What our plugin does is fix the structured data prices of the variant pages itself as those are the URL’s that are in your product feed and those are the ones Google checks.

So, make sure to get a full URL of a variant product from the feed itself which contains attribute parameters in the URL and check that full URL in Google’s structured data testing tool.

Hope this makes sense? We can also do this for you if you prefer but then we would need to have the URL of the product feed you created.

Thank you for your reply. I just noticed that the price, in fact, updates on the variation page if I access the URL with the variation parameter.

For example:
https://nustone.co.uk/product/silver-grey-granite-paving-600×900/?attribute_pa_format=crate

and: https://nustone.co.uk/product/silver-grey-granite-paving-600×900/?attribute_pa_format=slab

They both show different prices, but on Google’s tool, it’s not picking up the right prices:

The price for this link should be 475.

Is this normal?

That is quite strange because when I check the source code of the page itself it shows a price of GBP 475 for the crate variant, which is the correct price.

Google’s structured data testing tool is doing something strange and I am not sure if it is Google’s tool causing this or your website but when I enter this URL in their tool:

https://nustone.co.uk/product/silver-grey-granite-paving-600×900/?attribute_pa_format=crate (the same one you used)

It redirects and starts testing this URL for the structured data:
https://nustone.co.uk/product/silver-grey-granite-paving-600×900/

Which obviously contains different prices.

Did you create a redirect rule that Google cannot land on a variant page and gets redirected the mother variable product? If not than something is off with Google’s testing tool.

Anyhow, the structured data price on your variant page is correct for sure.

I’m getting the exact same results. If this is an issue with Google’s testing tool, hopefully, Google Shopping should still work without any issues.

I’ll resubmit the feed and see if this works or not.

Well you know soon enough when uploading the products into Google’s Merchant Center and they start disapproving items due to price mismatches.

Just to be sure: you do not redirect traffic coming from bots, such as Google, to the mother variable product?

No, we only redirect traffic for 404 pages.

This likely seems to be an issue with Google’s testing tool that ignores URL parameters.

We’ll see how this goes! I’ll let you know if we stumble upon any issues.

We use Google’s structured data tool on a regular base and it always did accept URL parameters just fine but let’s see what Google’s Merchant Center says.

You were absolutely right. We are hosting with WPEngine and apparently, they had a bot redirect setup. I’ve asked them to disable it and now the URLs are processing correctly for each variation. All is working now ??
