Variable Product Image Not Showing

Dear Forum Members,

We have a page on our website where we would like to show only Lavender Candles. On the site, we have variable products that each have a unique image for the variation but there is also a product image that features on the shop page.

When selecting an attribute/variation (in our case ‘choose a perfume) at the front-end of the website, the image changes to the one for the chosen variation (perfume).

However, when we try to create a direct link to the chosen variation (for the Lavender Candles page), the image of the variation does not show. Instead, the ‘product image’ that is set for all variants is shown. If we remove the ‘product image’, the image for the variation is showing correctly but in this case the product does not have an image in the shop before a variation is chosen. It only shows a black place holder.

As you can see, none of these links show the image of the variant. Only when you select a perfume via the ‘select your perfume’ option, does the image change to the correct image.

We cannot believe that there is not a simple solution for this and would very much appreciate everybody’s help.

So far, the only work-around we have come across is to place on the Lavender Candle page in a block a combination of an image of the correct Lavender candle, with a title above it and with a custom ‘add-to-cart’ button below it. The button will have the following URL:
