• I have added many variable products over the years with only one Attribute (i.e. Color – Blue|Red|Black|White …etc). Then creating as many Variations for color as needed.

Now I am trying to create one product with two choices – 3 Size & 4 Colors. Soon will have products with combinations of 20 options.

I initially created two Attributes “Size” & “Color” then create 12 Variations for all the combinations. Future products will have more than twenty combinations.

We are running WP 4.4 and WC 2.4.12

Is there a way in WooCommerce to create a product that has 12+ combinations for size & color without having to create 12+ Variations?

  • Have you tried the “Create variations from all attributes” option in the variations tab drop down. This option will make up to 50 variations at a time for you.

Otherwise have a look at “add-ons” plugins like this one:

    There are others.

With an “add-on”, the sizes could be the variations and the colours the “add-on”, so you would have only 3 variations. I’m not sure but I think you lose stock control over colours in that scenario.

I did try that sometime back “Create variations from all attributes”, but forgot it caused another problem of covering up the price of the product when more than one Attribute was used.

I will look at the add-on you mention.

Keeping track of stock is not an issue at this point, but you bring up something to add to the equation down the road.

…another problem of using the “Create variations from all attributes” is that you still have to go into each variation to add the same weight and the same price for every variation.

Without a weight they wont even show up in the drop down menu.

If prices and weights are the same for each variation, you can set them in one go using the drop down at the top of the variations tab. No need to visit each variation.
