Variable preorders don’t allow for cart restriction

When I add a pre-order product with variants (all are attributed for pre-order), the setting to restrict the cart to ONLY available OR preorder products does not work. Meaning it allows shoppers to add both in-stock and pre-order items to the cart. I double checked all settings and believe it is a plugin error.
