VALUE_EMPTY error on form submission

    Good morning,

    I’m having an issue on a client site with either WooCommerce or the payment gateway extension.

    The problem I’m having is that when I fill in the card details and click the Pay for order button, the gateway returns the following error

    VALUE_EMPTY - Field must not be blank - INVALID_REQUEST ERROR

I've performed a conflict test and still encountered the error.

    It seems like this issue is coming from APIExperts Square for WooCommerce extension you are using.

    Can you please try to switch to our official square extension and see if it resolves the issue?

    Hi Daniyal,

    Thank you for the reply, we started out by using the official extension, but an error we couldn’t resolve caused us to try a different extension.

    When using the official extension, we would be presented with the error that the Card number, CVV & Expiry were all invalid (regardless of the plugin being in sandbox mode or not), so it didn’t even get as far as presenting an error from the gateway.

    It was also brought to our attention that the official extension is using a outdated version of the Square API – are there any plans to bring this up-to-date?

    Hi,

    I have an update to share.

    I’ve not yet fixed the issue, however, I have managed to get a bit more clarity on the issue.

    The issue seems to be the the site has functionality which programmatically creates orders, and it’s these orders which encounter the “VALUE_EMPTY” issue when attempting to pay, if we use the standard process, then the order goes through without issue.

    I think this means we can rule out the issue being with the Payment Gateway plugin, and more to do with how WooCommerce handles orders which have been generated programmatically versus those which have been created by going through the standard flow.

    Does WooCommerce transmit address data when attempting to complete orders which are in the “Pending Payment” status?

    I should point out that I also encounter this issue with orders created in the WordPress backoffice.
