• Hi

I have tried to validate my website via W3C but it is stating that i have “bytes” that are not conforming with UTF-8 and is unable to validate the page.

I have noticed it is the “»” that is the problem as it is showing up as a ? on the page. You can see this by viewing my website at https://www.spiritfolk.com

The “?” only appeared when i disabled the WP-ecommerce and WP Global Translator plugins.

    Can someone help?

    Thanks

  • These “?” need to be replaced with the character code &#243 everywhere that you are using them. This is probably being written either directly in a post via copy/paste or being placed in by your template (if it was modified).

Joshua thanks for the help. I did what you advised but the question marks (?) were still there. I have noticed that i am only getting this problem on the home page, if i look at one of my posts – such as “Channel 4 Sucks”, the arrows are showing up ok and the page gets validated ok with W3C, its just the home page that is the problem.

    Any other ideas?

Have you check that your index.php file does not contain any “?”. This would cause the template to be writing these automatically.
