Ah thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for.

The error message when using the incorrect code displays at the very top as

“An error has been encountered”

Do you know how I could customise this message?

You can try this code snippet instead:

add_action( 'um_submit_form_errors_hook', 'check_customer_code', 100, 1 );
function check_customer_code( $args ){

	if ( isset( $args['customer_code'] ) && $args['customer_code'] != '1234' ) {
        UM()->form()->add_error( 'customer_code', 'Please put in the correcct passcode' );
    } 
}

Thanks, to avoid confusion change the test for ‘1234’ to ‘ABCDE’ in the code snippet as in the document subject.
