    Hi everyone,

this is the first time I have tried to use wordpress and I am trying to use it as a website and not a blog. I am bumbling my way through it by deleting bits and pieces from the files eg categories bits, off the footer, dates, author etc. However, I have tried to validate the code and there has been 1 error. I have no idea what it is after looking through the code. Will this cause me any problems with spiders crawling the site? any help would be appreciated

A link to a page on your site that contains the error might help.

If you’re referring to the “document type does not allow element “label” error, try adding an opening <div> immediately after the <form> tag and a closing </div> immediately before the </form> tag in your search form markup (seachform.php).

Cheers for the help, but since that error I have added some youtube videos and now I have 7/8 errors. The page display fine-is it a big problem to have these errors? Do you know if it will have an effect on the search engine spiders?

    cheers in advance

You can safely ignore the errors relating to <embed>. Despite that fact that <embed> is non-W3C proprietary markup, it’s still the most accessible and cross-browser safe method of embedding rich media.
