    Hi there,

We have disabled AmEx as a card option however for customers they have to submit the order before the associated red banner appears saying “we do not accept this card type” appears.

Does it not make far more sense to validate the accepted card type as they enter their card details to prevent a bad user experience? You already know it’s an AmEx card from the first 4 digits and you know that AmEx is disabled so the card field could instantly be validated stating that this “AmEx is not accepted” – is this not implemented for a reason?

    Many thanks,

    Jethro

    Hello @jethrohazelhurst

Thank you for bringing this up—it’s definitely a valid point, and I agree it makes sense.

PayPal has only recently added the stateObject to the card fields (this issue was raised just a few days ago), which will allow for real-time card type validation in the future. So, to answer your question, it hasn’t been possible until now, but with PayPal’s recent update, we’re actively looking into implementing this feature in a future release.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

    Kind Regards,

    Krystian
