Hi, after some frantic troubleshooting this morning on a Woocommerce site, we were seeing duplicate orders. the orders were a result of a failure notice on the checkout screen, meaning customers tried again. They got billed 2, 3 & 4 times depending how often they tried.

In the logs, were issues around being able to send email, so by working backwards we could see a Post SMTP issue, a SendGrid Issue all ending up in a 500 server error.

Long story short, disabling the v4.1.0 Kirki update from 3pm this morning got our site back up and running, it was on a auto update. No logs referred to Kirki as the culprit though.

CRITICAL Uncaught Error: Class ‘SendGrid\Mail\Mail’ not found

  • Hey @paulleigh, what theme are you using?

Thanks for responding @davidvongries, we use the Shoptimizer theme.
The issue was apparent directly after 3am, the update happened at 2:58am and the first botched order we saw was at 3:30am. Don’t get too many orders at that time of day.

The Theme had an update in waiting but this had no effect on us. The only resolution was the disabling of the Kirki plugin. I just looked at the list of files edited on the server before the first botched order and it was Kirki Plugin and the AMP pages.

I was unable to send any email from the WP system, Post SMTP Test email and Order Confirmations from the Admin panel. Once the Kirki plugin was disabled, they started to work again. > 100 orders so far since the plugin disabled, all ok.

Hey @paulleigh, thank you for all the details.

Is there any way for you to test if it’s working with the latest update we just released (4.1.1)?

    Thank you.

    That was quick work.
I can test later this evening, I’ll report back here with results, tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay, I didn’t end up updating the site so quickly. However, it was updated with the latest versions and the problem has gone. Thank you @davidvongries for such a quick response, even though I was not quick to implement.
