V1.5 Broken Theme

  • Hello,

    I’ve installed a few new themes but am getting an error message: “The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.” The comment is that “Template is missing.”

    What can I do to fix this?

    Hi NM,

    I was using that very description to install, followed everything to a T; just keep getting the errors…

    Probably you’ve created pages that use a template file available in one theme (the default 1.5 theme includes template files named “Archives” and “Links”) that aren’t available in the theme you’re trying to use now.

    Either edit the pages you have using either of those template files to use the default template instead, or create replacement template files for your new theme(s).

    Ok,

    Now they are installed and selectable under presentation, but after selection, the blog is just a blank. Arg.

    I had that exact problem with GreenTrack on one of the hosted blogs here – never did figure it out…

    Beta versions – the nature of the beast.

    It’s funny though – GreenTrack works fine on my own blog (though it does puke a little because I’ve made my own templates for Kubrick, but haven’t ported them to GreenTrack yet), but just showed a completely blank (and empty) page on a fresh install of the same nightly on a different domain. Both blogs were on the same host (my server) and at the same IP address, though different domain names.

    Veddy odd, ya? ?? But yeah, beta – fun to play with ??

    Is there a stable build with the ability to switch templates in “presentation”?

    With 1.2.2 you can use different stylesheets, to create different looks. Since this is about a beta version, you should have posted to the Beta discussion forum, instead of the design forum, but that is okay.

    Please resist the urge to use beta software unless you realize that you are volunteering to find problems, and report them, and debug them(if possible).

    even when it displays a blank page, do a view source on that …
    that will give u some info sometimes.

    I have tested GreenTrack in Jan 02 Build, but it should work on all wp 1.5

    try to get it again from the site, as it has 2 bug fixes to that.
