• Just wondering BEFORE I go ‘upgrade crazy’ with my 21 client sites running on WordPress whether I should be concerned about themes, plugins, or widgets breaking?

Does this version of WP require anything in particular of the themes, widgets, & plugins, or is it ‘backward compatible’ and I just may not be able to utilize all the new features & functionalities of WP 3 until I get newer code in my Themes, Widgets, & Plugins?

Thanks for any guidance you can offer before I start my mission!

    Jeff

  • you should be concerned of course…. testing is good, but I see how that might be a bit hard on that many sites.

Themes-shouldn’t be much of a problem, you just won’t have the features, like you said
Plugins&Widgets-this one worries me a bit. Its real hard to know if they are compatible til you give it a try, you can try looking in the repository to see if they are compatible. They can always be flaky… I didn’t run into any compatibility issues on 5 sites that I did, with a total of maybe 50plgins over the sites…..
