V. 14.9.2 shows permanent notice: Caching is enabled through the core plugin…
-
Hi,
since the update to 14.9.2 we have the following warning:
WP Statistics Notice: Caching is enabled through the core plugin. Please clear your cache to ensure accurate user tracking.
No matter how often you close the message, the message appears again with every new page.
A rollback to V. 14.9.1 has solved the problem for the time being.
An important request: if the message is of an essential nature, please explain WHAT THE MESSAGE MEANS, preferably with a link to the place where the cache should/can be emptied.

Hi Zappo,
Thank you for reaching out and for your valuable feedback.
The warning you’re seeing is due to recent updates to tracker.js in version 14.9.2. Clearing your cache is important for accurate user tracking.
You can permanently dismiss the notice by clicking the close button. In the next version, this notice will only appear on the overview page.
We appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Hi @mostafas1990,
The warning you’re seeing is due to recent updates to tracker.js in version 14.9.2. Clearing your cache is important for accurate user tracking.
Which cache do you mean exactly? The cache for WordPress in general? We use LiteSpeed cache here, which automatically purges everything during updates.
You can permanently dismiss the notice by clicking the close button.
Neither deleting the cache again nor repeatedly closing the message has resulted in it being permanently hidden. That was also the message of my first post.
In the next version, this notice will only appear on the overview page.
Nevertheless, please make absolutely sure that the message is no longer displayed after closing once. It is also generally not very helpful.

Confirming what ZappoB has already made clear with two posts:
Neither deleting the cache again nor repeatedly closing the message has resulted in it being permanently hidden.
plugin author’s answer:
In the next version, this notice will only appear on the overview page.
When will that be? For now, nothing about this question is “resolved.” It continues to be a major annoyance that interrupts workflow, and I’m about to permanently disable/uninstall the plugin because of it.

I am quite certain that the notice should disappear when clicking the dismiss/close button, Please refer to the video I recorded for reference → https://capture.dropbox.com/jSWGP8cwiCbNbHOD

Can you record a video and show the issue in the video? @zappob

Hi @mostafas1990,
thank you for your renewed reply, but please note what I have already written several times above. The message can of course be closed, as shown in your video, but it always reappears when a page is changed or reloaded.
As I wrote, I am back to v. 14.9.1, this message does not appear here, so I cannot record a video. Just take my word for it.

PS: here is a new message from WP Statistics, which will permanently reopen:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/38854qqwzjx2xw8pfm6gp/WPS.mov?rlkey=j5a7t7g01exlldhzp32peyzid&st=k1f9npkm&dl=0I had to cut the video, because as I clicked on “comments” an user mail address was visible. But imagine I can go on and on and on…

Alright, I am convinced that some notices need to be reconsidered. In the new changes, all notices will only be displayed to users who have the
manage_options
capability and some notices will be restricted to plugin pages only. Also, I forgot to mention that you can disable all notices by enabling the “Disable Inactive Essential Feature Notices” option in the settings. @mellitan

Regarding the error you mentioned, I think it happened during the upgrade. It should be working fine consistently.
but it always reappears when a page is changed or reloaded.
Weird indeed. The dismissed notices are stored in the options, meaning they won’t be displayed in subsequent visits, as you can see here.
Can you tell me does the close/dismiss button has the url? the link should be something like this https://capture.dropbox.com/Y4F9D6eoF12leIpD

Hi?@mostafas1990,

What is your current WP Statistics version? ??
V. 14.9.1, because of the persistent message, s. post 1.
If I can disable the messages, I will update.
The source you referred to is relevant for versions before v14.8, as you can see in this line of the changelog: See Changelog and not sure why your notice functionality is not new. how do you update the plugin? via CLI? manually or via admin?
If I can disable the messages, I will update.
Checkout the option “Disable Inactive Essential Feature Notices” in the settings, then update the plugin to the latest version.

I don’t know what you mean, but I was using V. 14.9.1 and updated to V. 14.9.2 within WordPress (admin), when WordPress sent me the message via mail.
I was able to suppress the messages as you described, and I’m now using V. 14.9.2 – but suppressing the messages should not be the final solution, please rework this for the next version.
Thank you for your support.
BR, Zappo
Thank you for testing. Yes, that’s correct.
Could you please inspect the source of the notices in the new version of the plugin? I want to ensure that the notice functionality is indeed new and not from an older version.
