• It seems that the maximum length allowed for the link in the video link field is restricted so that a YouTube playlist URL which is much longer than a standard YouTube link doesn’t work. The link is accepted in the field, but the video won’t play.

Posting the link in “video embed code” DOES work (surrounded by suitable embed code of course), but not only is this tedious, it displays the video slightly differently.

Is there some other way around this?

  • I was able to add a playlist to the ‘Video Embed Code’ in the same way that I add a single video in our test site without any trouble.

    Embed a Playlist

Am I missing something? Do you have a link?

Yes, as I said, it works in the “video embed code” field, but NOT in the “video link” field. The latter is preferable because, certainly in the Case of a single video, the video is displayed much more cleanly without any extraneous YouTube clutter.

    Hope that makes sense.

I see now. If you just want a link then use the ‘Share’ feature and find the ‘Email’. Copy that URL and wrap it in an <a> tag in the ‘Video Embed Code’. As an example:

    <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdvEgeoti4jdCP9YsUWq46LMBqogORtoO">Text Here</a>

Yes, thanks. But I think we must be talking at crossed purposes. What I am referring to is the “Video Link” field of the sermon posting. Normally you can just paste the youtube URL in there and it will display in your sermon without needing any embed code etc. It is similar to the embed but not only is it simpler to use, it displays the video slightly differently with less of the youtube decoration.

But if you paste the playlist URL in there is gives an error when you try to view the page.

The only way you’re going to display a playlist is to embed it in the Video Embed Code section. If you just want a text link, you need to wrap it in a <a> tag as I posted above. Just putting the playlist URL to the Video Link doesn’t seem to work. The new developer(s) are NOT active here and I doubt they’re going to help.

    Thanks for the confirmation anyway.
