Using Xcache on database- and object cache breaks site
-
I have two separate WP installations (let’s call them wp1 and wp2) on (shared server) domain, and they both have W3T installed. However, both menus have links to the other installation. Everything has worked fine until I tried to use XCache for database and object caching on both of them.
Everything worked fine for few hours, but then things started to mess up. The wp1 started to use wp2’s header background image, its menu disappeared and it also used wp2’s footer widgets. Clearing W3T or browser cache didn’t have any effect.
I also had hard time to login into both wp’s. When I tried to login into wp1 my login failed, and the address bar changed into wp2’s login address, and vice versa. I finally had to force WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL paths to both wp-cofig’s.
I can only assume that XCache was the cause of this. After I changed cache back to disk everything went back to normal. Yes, I know. W3T recommends disk on shared servers, but my host said that XCache would be okay.
Has anyone else experiences anything similar? Could there be some automated cleaning on server side which caused the problems? The time it took from activating XCache to problems to appear was not consistent with any garbage collection or other time frame which I have set on W3T settings.
