Using WP pages or my own PHP pages?

I am just wondering which way is better. I need some custom non-blog webpages. Should I create pages within WordPress(so everything is saved in WP MySQL tables)? Or just transform regular PHP pages into ones that utilize WordPress?

Obviously, the pages will be saved in the MySQL database backup using the 1st method. But is there any advantage when using the 2nd method? Thanks.
