Sorry, trying not to get confusing. The first part, I’m referring to the settings at the bottom when you add the file. There’s a protection section for WP eMember. It isn’t working with just that checked.
The second part, I’d like to have all the file downloads in the a particular category on the page for ease of use when adding more files so I don’t have to put in certain ID’s, etc. However, I’d like to have certain files within that category under a membership so if they try to click on the download button, it will take them to a registration/login page to register or login for a membership then be redirected back to the download area that they were previously on. Right now, I have everything set up except for being able to have certain files under the membership.
If I can’t, what’s my alternative? Have different categories for the membership files and then use the protection shortcodes? I’d still like to have the file content visible instead of hidden but those shortcodes hides all the content. If there was a way to just hide the button in the fancy templates, then that would work too if that’s at all possible.
I should also mention that I thought about using the WP eStore but the membership will be free and not cost to any of the files. I just need to capture some members info for certain files. Using the WP eStore would be overkill at this point. Also, it doesn’t have the file size, download counts and the versions that I’m looking for to have shown on the page for each file.
