Is it possible to have WP eMember (memberships) be an option on certain file downloads? I want to have some file downloads as free for anyone to download but I want some to be able to register for an account for the “restricted” content. I tried select the membership plan on the file settings but it still allows it to be downloaded without the membership. I do see that there’s a redirect for a registration page but that does all the downloads and I don’t want that.

I probably should mention that I would like to use the category shortcode to display all the categories on one page with the download button being hidden to register or redirect to login. I hope that makes sense.

    Hi,

Can you share the page which should be protected so that I can check?

Let me see if I understand you correctly. You want to protect the page but have all the download categories displayed without showing the download button unless they log in. Is this correct?

Sorry, trying not to get confusing. The first part, I’m referring to the settings at the bottom when you add the file. There’s a protection section for WP eMember. It isn’t working with just that checked.

The second part, I’d like to have all the file downloads in the a particular category on the page for ease of use when adding more files so I don’t have to put in certain ID’s, etc. However, I’d like to have certain files within that category under a membership so if they try to click on the download button, it will take them to a registration/login page to register or login for a membership then be redirected back to the download area that they were previously on. Right now, I have everything set up except for being able to have certain files under the membership.

If I can’t, what’s my alternative? Have different categories for the membership files and then use the protection shortcodes? I’d still like to have the file content visible instead of hidden but those shortcodes hides all the content. If there was a way to just hide the button in the fancy templates, then that would work too if that’s at all possible.

I should also mention that I thought about using the WP eStore but the membership will be free and not cost to any of the files. I just need to capture some members info for certain files. Using the WP eStore would be overkill at this point. Also, it doesn’t have the file size, download counts and the versions that I’m looking for to have shown on the page for each file.

For the above part, can you open up a support ticket here.

To displays categories in a page, please read the following documentation displaying-all-downloads-from-a-particular-category

To display all the downloads in a page, please check the following documentation how-to-display-all-of-your-downloads-on-a-page.

The above shows you how our plugin works. Let me know if this helps you in any way.

All your questions regarding eStore and eMember plugin, please use the link I provided above.

    Kind regards

I understand all that and know what the shortcodes I need to use. I’m asking if you can integrate so that certain files are only downloadable through the membership plugin. For instance, when you click on the download button, it will take you to the registration page versus downloading. I’m sorry but your answer is not very helpful! I’m asking if this is possible or not. Can you integrate your two plugins as such?

    Hi,

Unfortunately this is a developers question and it is beyond my capabilities ?? I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your request.

    Thank you

Hi, No, that is not possible. This is not an advertized feature of the plugin.
