• Hi
I need to build a new website for a client and thinking about using WP.
I don’t need it as a BLOG site, just a regular site.
The reason I am looking at WP is the client needs to be able to add images and reports with ease, which WP can do.
There needs to be a fixtures page\plugin as the site is for a shooting club and holds competions.
Will WP be ok to do this, or should I be looking at something else?

  • You can definitely use WordPress as a non-blog site. The main thing to do is create a page that you want to be the home page and then set it to be the front page.

In 2.7 this is under Settings > Reading and the first option is to have a blog or static page as the front page.

Here’s an article about using WordPress for non-blog sites

    https://ifacethoughts.net/2007/06/24/wordpress-makes-sense-for-many-non-blog-websites/

I found good answers to using WP to create a website rather then a blog. Have to interrupt reading however but will return to the article. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Need met opportunity and I wish to create a business website for a new busines I am starting. It was recommendet that I use WordPress, as being easy, versatile and of quality. However, not being fluent in writing code and “reading” your materials, I am some 36 hrs from installing after preparing my own texts. I am however scared and somewhat overwhelmd by all the code necessary and having to spend even more time on this project. I do want to build it myself though but am in doubt of being able to. Learning code is of interest but it is a bit much to absorb quickly.
Does the Text Editor translate Plain Text to code, or how exactly does it work?
    Thank you,
