• Using wordpress to make my website (not terribly computer savvy)…..
re: my menu buttons (tabs) at top of site…..
when I click on one of my pages at top, it goes there fine, to the pages I have for that item, and all the items I have made are there in a list to click on each one
however….when I hover over the menu tab, and drop down appears, one item is missing from my list.
Inotherwords, it shows when I go to page, but not when I hover on dropdown at top.
I must have missed a step and am new to wordpress……HELP ANYONE!!!!! The page does exist, but drop down is not showing it!

  • Is the Page marked ‘Private’? If so, it will not show in the menu.

You can change that by going to Admin->Page->All Pages. Hover over the Page title and click ‘Quick Edit’. Uncheck the ‘Private’ checkbox and click ‘Update’.

    To clarify:
Have tabs at top: home, news, media, etc.
Media tab dropdown does not show an item
Media page shows the item missing on tap dropdown

Nothing is marked private (that box is empty, not checked).
Orders are correct, and parents are correct, as per other items under media.
Latest item is a new one, and though I follow same format, with new order #,
it just does not show when I publish it, in the drop down tab at top.

Can you give us a link to your site, please?

The missing item is in dropdown “Media” tab at top to “press room”, and that dropdown should have “Quatro sisters press” after “Cradle Press”

Yet when I click on the “media” tab, and the entire “Media” pages are listed (on the actual “Media” page, the item in question is there at the bottom (last newly entered item), and it is also on “press room” page. And I can also click on the page in question, and the actual “Quatro sisters press” page is there (waiting for content) on website.

Only place it is missing is at the top “media tab” and hovering over the drop down menus for the media tab. I obviously missed a step somewhere. But all seems to be correct in what I’ve done as far as “parent” pages, and order, and not marked private on any of them.

Well, I finally got to your actual wordpress front page once that .swf on your landing page decided to stop hanging and actually redirect me there via that ENTER button. FYI, I absolutely despise (with the blazing fury of a thousand suns) websites that default to playing music rather than letting me choose to hear it only if I want to.

(The WP starts athttps://quatrorock.com/quatrorock/ for others’ benefit)

I think the problem is that you haven’t added all your new pages (so many pages!) to the menu using the custom menu options (Appearance > Menus) – your Media > Gallery item doesn’t have all its subpages showing either.

    sorry……..beginner here on wp….learning as I go.
Sorry to offend your sensibilities on music/front page……it is a music site after all….
Oddly…..i’m on a mac osx and I can press “enter” (it is immediately there when I click on site), and instantly bypass music and be in site…..no issue. I’ll have to look into that, for those who hate that feature…..tryin to please every sensibility can be a bitch!!!!! lol.
I do appreciate all thoughts…..as we work to perfect our site.

    anyway……
yes it is a complex site and that is how it was designed……yes, many pages. It is, in fact, a website done with iweb, then brought more up to date and workable by using wordpress. We are refining all the time with our limited and huge learning curve.

Thanks for pointing out about the Gallery……just realized that is not there too.
I will go see if I can figure out how to add them all in those two areas…….

    appreciate your advice very much……thanks.

Sorry to offend your sensibilities on music/front page……it is a music site after all….

I do understand that showcasing the music is the point of the site! ??

Just in case you didn’t know, autoplay music on websites is a pet peeve for a lot of folks, not just me. People like to choose when they listen is all.

Managing the Custom Menu with that many pages is going to be tedious – not difficult, just time-consuming. I don’t envy you.

Yeah, we went with no automatic music on lots of other areas, unless one clicks on it. Most of our fans/audience enjoy the music coming in……we’ll figure out what we want to do……..just takes time.

can you point me how I add the pages…..
I am in the right area, I can see that. Just gun shy to add, and screw something up…..
I see the item at the “Pages” then “most recent” and the item in question is “quatro sisters press” and I can click on the box……but when I clicked “add to menu” at bottom…….it became a tab item…wrong of course. How to I add it to the correct area, under Media, then Press, and in order I want? Not sure how to do that. I see all my menu at right, but no “add” button……everything in order……just not sure how to get the one item over to that side, where I want it.
Thanks so much for pointing me to the correct area….appreciate it.

You can ‘drag and drop’ the menu items to place them where you want them – if you want to nest a tab underneath another tab just shift it a little to the right once you’ve moved it up under the parent tab.
