    No. The link I provided (www.anditgoes.com/blog) was for the purpose of showing that I want to link to my “blog” from my main site. I realize it’s not a valid link at this time.
    Can I simply change the index.php to blog.php? My main site will be index.htm, which on the server will override .php

    By the example you gave it seems you want to move your blog to its own direvtory under the root. For this, see Moving_WordPress – especially section 2.
