Using WooCommerce in combination with Polylang (multi-language)

  • I’m using both WooCommerce and Polylang, and I’m quite a fan of both plugins.

    However, in WooCommerce, one can only indicate one page as the main shop page. In my case, this is https://streetstepperwebshop.com/webshop/.

    I have enabled a second language on this website (the language switcher is not yet shown because the pages are not translated yet). The way polylang works, is that it duplicates every page and then links the pairs with each other. The duplicate for the abovementioned webshop page is https://streetstepperwebshop.com/webshop-2/

    This is page is correctly linked with the first page, but as you can see the WooCommerce store is not shown.

    Is there any way to show the WooCommerce store on this page, for example by including a piece of PHP code? (I have installed a plugin “Allow PHP in posts and pages”.) I would assume that as of then, things should work, since the other webshop pages all include shortcodes to implement the WooCommerce functionality.

    The solution was switching translation plugins. In my case, it appeared not at all possible to get to a nice translation of WooCommerce using Polylang with reasonable effort (of course you can always go in the core files and do crazy things).

    With WPML, it was quite easy. Just needed to discover what plugin settings worked best in my case. No crazy stuff!
