Any reported issues with Elementor and/or WPEngine? I added the pugin, then uploaded a new image, added it inside an Elementor page and although it created the folder and added new webp images but not showing up on the Elementor page.

Additionally, the webp image that is in the folder IS smaller than the original, so that’s not the issue.

P.S. It would be cool if you had a regenerate option available where you could hover over just a single image to convert it, useful for testing.

An icon that says ‘not working’ over it.

Fine. Then we probably have a solution. Is your server Apache or nginx?

Which line and from which htaccess file should one line disappear?

Adding for the force redirect option didn’t yield any different results.

According to WPEngine the htaccess file is served through Apache but the files are served through Ngnix.

This means that your server does not take into account the rules in the .htaccess file when loading. And if the rules in this file do not work, the redirect to WebP will also not work.

That’s kind of why I asked from the start if there were any issues with WPEngine. Surely I am not the only person using WPEngine and your plugin. I guess you weren’t aware of the WPEngine server configurations.

So does that mean the plugin will not work with WPEngine?? Are there no solutions?

Forgive me. So far, there have been no reports, so I answered you that too. No, there is nothing else we can do in this situation.

Ok, that is something you may want to note on your plugins page in the future moving forward now (lack of working with WPEngine — which btw is a major WordPress host).

I was reading that you can however request that some configurations be added to the Ngnix server configuration by reaching out to WPEngine and they do it themselves, so I’m not sure if that helps or if there is some configuration I can send them to add.

Thanks for taking the time to try to resolve the situation anyway.

Yes, I will try to add a notification of this type of error to the plugin settings. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ask them to have the files handled while loading by Apache. .htaccess rules will then be honored.

Ok i’ll see if that is something I can do, thanks again.

@qwik3r, in accordance with your proposal, I have prepared a verification of your problems in the administration panel, on the plugin settings page. Could you please test it for me?

Please download the plugin and add it to your website (before that, delete old directory with plugin):

Please tell me if you have any errors on the plugin settings page. I will be grateful for your cooperation.

Sorry I was a little confused but what you said. Is there an update to the plugin that would allow for it to potentially work?

    Plugin Author Mateusz Gbiorczyk

    (@mateuszgbiorczyk)

@qwik3r no, only changing your server configuration will help here. With this update, someone else with the same problem as you will have the appropriate message in the admin panel.

Could you please check it for me?

@qwik3r, did you manage to check the plugin version I gave you? After downloading, do you have a visible error on the plugin settings page in the admin panel?

    Thread Starter qwik3r

    (@qwik3r)

No sorry I haven’t. I don’t have time to do that right now, especially if it’s not going to solve the issue.
