On my site, most of the spam is coming from “users” whose first two IP octets are the same (39.36), but to make it difficult to block, they then have the last two octets different. The personal lists won’t let me block 39.36.*.* despite the bulk of spam getting through coming from those addresses. It would be highly unlikely that any non-spammer would have those first two octets in their IP address.

I literally have to delete 5-10 of these spam comments a day. Why isn’t Cleantalk catching them and/or focusing on those first two octets? These are blatant spam and they don’t even try to hide it.

    Hello.

There are 64 networks start with 39.36.*.* with network mask /22: https://ipinfo.io/AS17557/39.32.0.0/11. You can add all of them to your Anti-Spam personal list.

We also would like to look at these spam requests. Could you mark them as Spam in your Anti-Spam logs, https://cleantalk.org/help/faq#feedback_spam, and tell us your website’s URL so we can analyze these marked requests?

So I followed the instructions and went through the last couple of days marking all the spam comments. How does Cleantalk miss a comment that says:

"If you are looking for opportunities to earn something extra alongside your studies or in your free time. I just went back to my comments and FOUR more comments that are spam got through. This is nuts!

In the WP backend, I always mark comments as Spam. Why doesn’t Cleantalk record that? I might as well just Trash them since marking them as spam has to be done via the Cleantalk dashboard. I literally don’t have time to do this. If I mark it as Spam in the WP backend, it should automatically communicate with Cleantalk and update your logs. Now I have to do it twice?

I left out my site’s URL because I don’t want to make it public. No way to hide it like you could before.

I’ve checked requests with your feedback and can say they look like manual spam. This kind of spam is really hard to prevent.

In such cases, we offer to manage this with personal blacklists. I went ahead and added the mentioned subnets to your personal lists. I also tweaked some filters for your website.

Please monitor for a while and let us know if you have any additional questions.
