• I tried this to put up 35 photos, all .jpg, mostly around 1.3mb max, with only on larger. The running indicator indicated that everything was working ok, but I can’t find them on my site. I expected to find them sitting waiting for me in the Media Library, but they aren’t there!

How can I find them? Would appreciate any advice.

  • I assume you know the filenames of the jpg’s you’ve uploaded. connect to your site and try a (remote) search with filezilla.

BTW 1.3MB for a jpg on your site is hugh and it will really slow your site down. Take a look at Smush-it or EWWW image optimizer to optimize your images for the web.

The files should appear in the medialibrary regardless if the files exist on the server or not, and uploading the fiels via ftp/sftp without them being in the medialibrary solves nothing so I think the problem is before that.

    Is your wp-content/uploads folder writeable?

Thanks to both of you. I think what I was doing wrong was that I put the server name in the place where I should have put ‘gallery’. It seems to be working now, and I will also take note of your comment rollingWolf re the size.
I will probably stick with using the ‘drag to upload’ though for most things as I was trying to do this so I could share my photos with a friend who wanted the info in my .exif and it didn’t seem to be visible.
