using view to see a users info

  • Hello,

    When I need to check on a users details the most obvious way is select view link under that users name, however, clicking this takes me to the front page of our website. Currently the only way to check a users details is to use the edit link.

    I have never yet found a solution or a fix.

    Any advice is most welcomed.

    Even if you got to the proper author page from the view link, it doesn’t tell you much. While it’s theme dependent, typically we only see their bio and the posts they authored. The edit link is the way admins were intended to view user data. You don’t actually have to change anything ??

    If there is some specific item you frequently need to see, the user list table can be modified to display other data. You wouldn’t want to add too many columns though. It’s also possible to create a custom user admin page that’s a better fit for your desired workflow. These sort of solutions may require custom coding to accomplish. There could be some sort of plugin that does this already, but I don’t know of any myself.
