Using user data in new pages

    I created new pages that display data from an additional database. I want to use the user functions on these pages, like get_currentuserinfo(), so that I can display certain objects only to members. I cannot get this working. I am connecting to both databases OK. Can anyone give me some advice or point me to some examples?
