We have a very BIG website, which was created with Elementor (over 1,000 single pages and posts). Now we updated the DEV website and want to transfer the DEV Website into the LIVE website.

But since the time we created the DEV website over 4 weeks ago the customer has changed content in posts and pages on the LIVE website. Now we have to import all of the content from the LIVE site into the DEV site before the transfer to catch all the changes that had been made on the LIVE site BUT WITHOUT overwriting any changes which were made on the technical side of the DEV website.

Do you know a way to import only the CONTENT from one website into another website? Not only the posts, but ALL the pages as well? But it should not be a WHOLE MIGRATION, ONLY the posts and pages.

It’s VERY important that we keep in mind that all the changes we did and also the new plugins etc. are kept and NOT overwritten on the DEV server, we only want to import the POSTs and PAGEs from the LIVE server into the DEV server.

Could All-in-One WP Migration (even in the PRO version) be sufficient to get ALL changes on posts and pages from the LIVE website, even if they were created in Elementor?

Since the pages are created with Elementor this could be problematic because I do not see any Elementor information in the XML file which was created by the WP onboard exporter but for that I do not have too much knowledge about the storage system of Elementor page’s content. That’s the reason why I would like to ask if All-in-One WP Migration can do the job.

It would be nice to hear your thoughts on that.

    You could try the following:
    1. Put the live site in read-only mode
    2. Export your live site content using advanced options – this will export posts, pages, comments, users, and all of the data in the database but it will skip plugins, themes, and everything that you disable.
    3. Import the backup (step 2) onto the dev site
    4. Export the dev site
    5. Import the backup from dev site (step 4)
    6. Remove read-only mode from the live site

Make sure to try this on a test website before doing it on your live website.
After you are confident that the data is in fine and you have a backup of your live site, proceed with the above steps.

I’ve installed the plugin now but now I can’t figure out something you wrote:

    1. Put the live site in read-only mode

How do I do that? I can not see an option in the plugin for that. Or is that achieved by any other means?

Thanks for clarifying that point to me.
