Using the plugin on search results page

I’m trying to use this plugin to sort search results by most viewed. Running the get_most_viewed function works, so the plugin itself seems to work correctly. However, when adding “&v_sortby=views&v_orderby=desc” to the URL, it doesn’t seem to have an effect.
The full url looks something like this:
https://www.site.com/?s=cleverguy&v_sortby=views&v_orderby=desc&v=4(where I’m using the v variable for something else).
The search results page loops through the posts, as any default search results page… and it works for other variables, like orderby=post_title. Any idea why this doesn’t work with wp-postviews? Or is the variables only working for normal post queries, not search queries?
