Using Slider Plugin over Theme Slider

Hi, I am using the Blossom Health Theme.

As the Blossom Health Theme allows me very restricted customizations
to the slider, I want to use a Plug-In slider instead (ex. SmartSlider 3)

Please advice how can I can disable/remove the slider of the theme and
use SmartSlider 3 plugin in its place.

After several attempts, the plugin doesn’t seem to have effect on the theme slider. Please advice
