Haven’t used Site Kit for a while, getting back to it, I am wondering about the following topics:

    1. Every user must setup Site Kit individually
    2. Whose Google Account is used?
    3. Whose Google Analytics property is used?

If there are two admins in WordPress Corina Client and Daniel Developer – does it make a difference who is connecting Site Kit to Google Analytics first?

The GA property should belong to the GA account of Corina, as the data belongs to the client. However Daniel was invited to be able to access the GA property of the client on his own account.

I am confused about the possible setup and impact:

    • Does it make a difference who connects Site Kit with GA first?
    • What if both set up Site Kit, i.e. Corina connects to her GA account, and Daniel connects to his GA account that is able to see the property of the client?
    • What if it’s the other way round? Daniel connects first to his GA account, and only later Corina connects Site Kit to her GA account
    • Is it the correct way if both users want to access the dashboard that both connect to Site Kit, or is Dashboard Sharing the appropriate way (that could mean that Corina Client has to do this, and what Daniel Developer always tries to avoid is the need to hand over those tasks to the client
    • Is it expected that this setup is on a per user basis? I want to avoid that the tracking script is loaded multiple times

I hope you can clarify this, as I haven’t found the information anywhere yet.

Hello @markussss and thank you for your questions. I will do my best to answer these for you but please do let me know if there are any areas I can clarify further for you.

Does it make a difference who connects Site Kit with GA first?

If both users are going to be connecting to the same Analytics property and have access to that property then it doesn’t make a difference. To connect Site Kit, a user will need to have the WordPress admin user role. If one of the two users in question isn’t an admin then the admin who connects Site Kit can share a view-only Site Kit dashboard for the other user using the Dashboard Sharing feature. More information on this can be found here.

What if both set up Site Kit, i.e. Corina connects to her GA account, and Daniel connects to his GA account that is able to see the property of the client?

Assuming that both users are admins, Daniel would be able to connect using his own account and view the Analytics property if that account has been granted permissions to the connected Analytics property by Corina. More information on Analytics property permissions can be found here.

What if it’s the other way round? Daniel connects first to his GA account, and only later Corina connects Site Kit to her GA account

The same as the answer above applies in this scenario. As long as both users have access to the connected property then both users will be able to connect and view the property within Site Kit.

Is it the correct way if both users want to access the dashboard that both connect to Site Kit, or is Dashboard Sharing the appropriate way (that could mean that?Corina Client?has to do this, and what?Daniel Developer?always tries to avoid is the need to hand over those tasks to the client

If both users are site admins and have access to the connected Analytics property then both can connect Site Kit. If one of the users is not an admin of the site then Site Kit should be set up by the admin user and access can be shared with the non-admin user via the Dashboard Sharing feature.

Is it expected that this setup is on a per user basis? I want to avoid that the tracking script is loaded multiple times

Site Kit will not place multiple Analytics code snippets on the site. Admin 1 can connect Site Kit to Analytics and Site Kit will place the necessary code snippet. Admin 2 can connect to Site Kit if they have the necessary permissions to the connected account/property and view the Site Kit dashboard the same as admin 1. This will not mean that the code snippet is placed again.

I hope this helps to answer all of the questions you have but please do let me know if I can clarify anything or if you have any further questions.

Thanks a lot Adam for explaining in such detail. This perfectly explains everything, I think we are good to go.
