using shortcode outside of the main content area

Hi there, I’d like to use the shortcode as part of the page template (rather than within content or the sidebar)

Normally I’d use this:

<?php echo do_shortcode('[pageviews: sparkline]'); ?>

But it doesn’t work with this plugin, could you advise?
