[Mod note – per another thread he’s already tried to post on Emil’s forums…not working right now]

I love Responsive, but for the project I’m working on right now, I don’t need the landing page. I want to set a static front page as a homepage (that works fine with the usual Settings>Reading in the WordPress dashboard, but I want to link from the menu to the blog. To do that, I created a blog post with no content, using the Blog(full posts) template. Then I set that page as the static Posts page in Settings>Reading. In other themes, clicking the link to the empty blog post redirects to the blog. In Responsive it goes to the landing page. Is there any way I can fix this, other than linking the menu to an actual post? That will work, but it will only display one post. Not really what I want.

  • Forum is working and it has been all morning, at least I haven’t received any notifications from the DreamHost or server monitoring service.

Anyways, here’s how to change your default landing page.

If you have more questions, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Emil

I’m logged into the forum, but I can’t see ANY discussions, and if I click the link in your last post, I get Permission Problem You don’t have permission to do that. I don’t know how that happened.

    Hi Emil,
This link doesn’t help with the problem I have. Please take a look at the test site: and that will help to make it clear. Perhaps I shouldn’t be using your theme, but I love the way it responds to scaling. Please let me know if that is the case.
    I want to:
    1. Set the static homepage. This is easily done.
    2. Have a link (called “News”) in the menu that goes to a page of blog entries in the order most recent entry first, like a normal WordPress blog would operate. This is normally achieved by creating a blog entry with no content and putting a link to it in the menu. In another theme, this link would go where I want, but in Responsive, it goes to the landing page.
    Thanks again for your help.

To keep default layout please match your setting with this image and if you wish to switch away with this one not that if your settings are not as noted above news page will show what you have right now and it won’t be news section.
