• I’ve found an article online directing towards Microsoft Web Platform Installer 3.0. I downloaded and everything seemed like to it was going to be a breeze, and then trouble strikes. Darn I was so close!

    I’d be grateful for any input. Here is where it goes south;

(Quick Note: I initially thought I installed it successfully, on the install screen the green bar was full, and it said download complete but it seemed to be frozen (I waited an hour with this screen, so I canceled it(a mistake in hindsight lol), and now when I try to download it again here is what happens:

    1) After I press accept to install wordpress, it looks like it is about to install (goes to install screen) but then it goes to “enter application information” and wants me to choose (via drop down box) between creating a new database or use an existing one.

    2) Next is database administrator, and there is already the name “root” in the box (which it allows me to edit).

    3) Then it asks for database administrator password.

    4) Then Database user name, which is currently set as: “wordpressuser”

…and then enter password and confirm password box.

    5) Database server- which says “localhost” and finally Database Name which says “wordpress”

..and then the option for the unique key passphrases.

Grateful for any and all input!

    tim

    Hello,

I was wondering would it be easier if I just purchased some web hosting now from one of the wordpress recommended hosting sites, and use their download process for the wordpress software?

I just don;t want to run into the same problem, but if going through a hosting site would do it, then I’ll go this direction.

    thx

That would certainly be much easier – especially if you purchase Linux – and not Windows – hosting.

I am facing similar trouble too…Dont know what to do next..no info here to overcome this.

    I am struck at here.
When all this information is filled out and then clicked next to move further,
    it says an error,
    that localhost couldn’t be found.

    What should be done now?

I want to install wp over my computer and not over a host site.

Sorry but I got the answer for it.

What happened was while installing MySQL, here was a crash that made it installation error. Which then caused unable to find it error.

Thanks anyways, lol, I am kidding.
