Using Lightbox Plus Colorbox for WordPress Site

    I have been using the Plugin Lightbox Plus Colorbox, as I really liked its elegance. I see that it belongs no longer to WordPress. Has it recently been updated and is it still safe to use? I would like to keep using it, but had a safety concern regarding it being no longer part of WordPress.
    I would be thankful for advice!
