Using less than symbol in tables

    I need to use less than symbols in a table.

    The greater than symbols will show; the less than symbols just either blank out the content of that table cell if you type it as < 1 %. OR if you type it as <1% it something adds a closing angle bracket and you get this: <1%>

    I’m guessing something is interpreting it as an opening angle bracket. I don’t know any other symbol I can use for “less than”.

    Is there an escape character I can use to say, “interpret this > literally”?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    The cause for this is that the browser thinks that the < belongs to an HTML tag. To have it shown literally, please write it as
    &lt; 1%
