Using latest version of WP but can’t publish posts

2.8 is not the lastest versioin. The latest version is 2.8.2.

All you have said is that you can’t publish posts. If you could describe some of the symptoms and the steps that you are taking and at what point the problem occurs others will be more able to help you.

For example,

Can you access the admin page?
Are you able to write the post but not publish it?
What happens when you hit the publish button?

I just updated to 2.8.2 and same issue, cannot publish posts or pages… Can access admin page and seem to be able to navigate with no issues… Just cannot publish, just hangs and eventually gives up and left with blank page.

Is this a problem where you type everything and the words all disappear after you hit ‘Publish’?

Just some more info to add my my earlier post. I may either add to the mix, or help someone come up with a solution.
B1 = IE6
B2 = FF3.0.11
B3 = IE8
B4 = FF3.51

B3 & B4, unable to update page or post
B1 & B2, Able to update page or post (new or existing)

B1 – B3, able to create and publish New Page or Post
B4, draft saved, screen hangs & doesn’t reflect draft save
B1 – B3, able to update NEW page or post
– B3, hung up once, but seemed to work (was slow however)

B3 & B4, unable to update New page/post from B1 or B2

Using different Users did not seem to change any above.

Noticed on B2, Error console that Massive unknown properties – Declaration Dropped warnings appeared, primarily in the wp-admin/load-styles.php. All the errors eminate from the <link stylesheet tags calling for load-styles.php, thickbox.css and colors-fresh.css. Don’t think this is the culprit, but added it anyway.

It does appear though the issue is browser (version) related as the older versions are operational. Which means I can get my work done until an update or solution can be found. Otherwise, can anyone supply me the necessary info to take me back to 2.8.1
If I simply copy the 8 files as described in a later post, that reflect the changes from 2.8.1 to 2.8.2, will this properly set me back, or do I have to reinstall all of 2.8.1.

I can get to my admin page, write a new post and then when I hit the “publish” button and then go to “view page” I see nothing but my blank blog page.

I am using 2.8.2 version (sorry for the forgotten .2) and viewing it all thru Chrome. or Not viewing it all would be more like it.

I can go into “manage” and find the post I wrote, but when I open it to edit it, there is now no longer a “publish” button.

any ideas?

now I have changed the theme of my page, it’s not the default style and I do host my own site, this isn’t running thru wordpress.com

oh and I have no idea what Mike@blogsguaranted is talking about up there with all that B1, B2, B3 talk. is that something to do with this problem? what does it all mean?

atavision, I have suffering the same problem as you. Really, it is frustrating to be stuck with this. Cannot Preview or Publish my Pages. The Visual Editor is also playing tricks (draws a blank). This happened after I updated to 2.8.2.

Is there anybody out there?
I am still having no luck publishing with WP 2.8.2

The only solution I could find was to delete the installation and reinstall 2.7.1.

That is how I dealt with it.

But I may not have had to as this didn’t actually solve the white screen of death issue. Instead, I found it was an issue with the “WP Cache” plugin that I had deleted.

I had same problem. After a long search for solutions, etc., I ended up deactivating all plug-ins. Then reactivated each, one at a time. Problem solved. I think that in upgrading, not all the plug-ins were deactivated and so caused a glitch in the install process.

Well, that’s all good and well if you can log into the admin page to deactivate the plugins. For me, the problem was that all I got when atttempting to log in was the blank white screen.

So I deleted the plugins. And it seems that this caused more problems because the code in the wp_config.php page was looking for that plugin. When it couldn’t find that plugin it refused to load the page.

2.7.1 works fine so I am sticking with that for now.
